Sergio Gallucci: Forbes 30 Under 30

More in Forbes’ press release here.

After being part of the 2021 Forbes Next 1000 List of “upstart entrepreneurs who are redefining the American Dream”, Sergio Gallucci was honored as one of the 2024 Forbes Science 30 Under 30. This year’s theme is “Inventing the future from the atom up”.

These researchers, engineers and entrepreneurs are making discoveries and inventing new solutions in every arena, from the subatomic to the stars.

For more than a decade, Forbes has highlighted young scientists, engineers and entrepreneurs with the help of nominations from the public.

This year’s list… features several innovators focused on outer space… [including] Sergio Gallucci, 28, whose company Scout Space is helping satellites navigate an ever-more crowded Earth orbit with sensors and autonomous navigation systems.

As profiled by Forbes:

Sergio Gallucci is the cofounder and CTO of SCOUT Space, which is developing sensors and autonomous systems to help satellites better navigate and avoid issues with debris or other satellites. SCOUT's first prototype spacecraft entered orbit in 2021. The company has raised over $5.5 million from investors.

Some thoughts on this honor:

Humbled, and extremely grateful, as always, for the support of mentors, friends, and the SCOUT team. I am glad to be a standard-bearer for space sustainability and pushing the technical envelope. It is great to see two other space professionals on the 30 Under 30 list this year, and I look forward to seeing more young pioneers and trailblazers filling it in the future. Efforts like SpaceNews’ “Stand Up, Space Greta” and Payload Pioneers are crucial to increasing public recognition and acceptance of young and underrepresented talent in the field: young professionals’ insights and technical grit should not be overlooked.
